Wearable Art: Introducing the Next To You Collection

We're excited to unveil our brand new collaboration with the talented artist, Tamara May Murray, also known as Mara May. This collaboration, titled Next To You, is an exquisite blend of art and fashion, transforming a stunning First Nations canvas artwork into wearable art.

Mara May, a highly skilled and passionate artist, hails from the serene countryside of Coomealla, a small town located 25 kilometers northwest of Mildura. Growing up on the Namatjira Mission, Mara May has been honing her artistic talents for over two decades. As a proud member of the Barkindji tribe, she draws inspiration from her ancestral roots in the Coomealla, Lake Victoria, and Mungo regions, which were passed down through her mother’s lineage. Her father's side connects her to the Yorta Yorta and Dhudaroah tribes, from the Shepparton area. This rich heritage is woven into her artwork, creating beautiful narratives that celebrate Indigenous Australian culture.

Mara May considers her artistic ability a sacred gift, bestowed upon her by the oldest living culture in the world. She carries forward this tradition with pride and reverence, even without formal training. Her innate love for art and connection to her ancestral heritage guide her, allowing her to create powerful, meaningful works. Through her art, Mara May seeks to preserve and share the stories, history, and spirituality of her people, offering a visual testament to the resilience, wisdom, and beauty of Indigenous Australian culture.
